AZ, NV, NH, MA, RI, CT, VT, NY, PA, MD and nearly back… September, 2014

September began at the Grand Canyon and then… First, some Grand Canyon Elk traffic:                                                                                               And finally, we got to the East:                                                                                                               The turds of fall:                                                                                       Not a mistake, I like this color:                                                               A super late Blue-winged Warbler:       The last Brown Thrashers of the fall in Pennsylvania:

Thanks for the mushroom lesson – it does look delicious, but I haven’t been brave enough to start harvesting my own wild mushrooms.

My father, for whom wild mushrooms were very common food in childhood, told me that you simply need to touch your tongue to the mushroom. If you feel a tingle, it’s unsafe and you should discard it. No tingle means safe to eat!

    I’m guessing Amy’s advice is more confidence-inspiring…
